Film questions :D
1) What's the difference between 120MM SLIDES & 120MM NEGATIVES? Both can be x-pro? 2) 35MM Slides.. How do i know they are slides and not negatives? Negatives are the normal one we buy from film shops? So far, i have agfa 35 and 120mm slides. I bought an overload of films for my lomo taking, and so far i have 35MM Agfa Vista AgfaPhoto CT Precisa Kodak Elitechrome AgfaColor Pro 200 120MM Agfa Optima AgfaColor Portrait I bought many films, but am still clueless. All along i thought i CAN xpro all 120mm films? Can i? Or only slides? Oh ya! I have a 35mm panoramic adapter for my holga and when i take pics, they will have the film hole thingy right? Will they be on my photos or on my negatives only? Help a noobie like me :D

on the film or box,it will state negatives, colour slides or somewords that u can conclude if its negative or slides. u can only x pro slides. vice versa for negative. about the pano thingy im not so sure.

destructology- 01-21-2008

You can ask the shop uncle/auntie whether it is slides or negatives. Mostly all neighbourhood photolabs sells only negatives. Like what mafie said, you can X-Pro slides, only at certain labs like Triple D, KT and Ruby. Some other shops they say that when they X-Pro, the chemicals will spoil. The hole thingy you referring to is called sprockets. I've never used them before but from what Uncle Mike told me, you can scan with or without the sprockets, but with sprockets, it will be more expensive . The sprockets will appear on the film negatives.

you will know if it is a slide film when the box says e6 and color negs when it says c-41. e6 films are the ones that you can have cross processed to c-41 chemicals. Agfa Vista = color negs AgfaPhoto CT Precisa = slide Kodak Elitechrome = slide AgfaColor Pro 200 = color neg 120MM Agfa Optima color neg AgfaColor Portrait color neg btw, it doesnt matter if it's 135mm or 120mm as long as the box says e6 you can have it cross processed ;) found this link thru google and thought this will help you more >>>list of films just click the "MORE>>" link to see the list he made or the link on the left hand side. :)

negatives can also be x-proed. just that we havent found anybody who can do it as it is expensive and it spoils the chemicals

best way is to read up more on films... can check out the starter kit that our kind mods have created forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=1885>here anyway for 35mm sprockets will be on all negatives/slides as almost all 35mm cameras use them to advance the film. Usually ppl would do the holga 35mm mod to get the sprocket hole effect not sure if it would be the same as a panoramic adapter as i dun own one :) you can check out how to do the mod here

talkplayandlove- 01-21-2008

wow thanks! haha okay i've been reading up some, but too many and i get very confused. xD soooo if i have the panoramic adapter one right, i just take.. when i bring it to process, like say i bring it to Ruby, do i have to tell them that i used the adapter? so i still can choose whwther i want to develope and scan with or w/o sprockets?

invisibl3- 01-21-2008

i not sure if the panoramic adapter takes photos with sprocket hole effects... the reason why most ppl scan with sprockets is because the forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=2715>pictures they took are around the sprocket holes so when they scan it will give them a cool effect which i think would only work with a holga diy mod. some guys here have the panoramic adapter just hope they can provide you with more details on that.. IMHO just try out with a cheap negative first and send it for normal process then you can check out if you need to scan with sprocket holes or not... you can get cheap expired negative with 12exp at TripleD for a buck each.. i always use that to do -*test*-('")ing... :D

sapienz- 01-22-2008

The "perly" pano adapter expose the entire frame of the negative, you have to try it out to understand. Do note that scanning sprockets is slightly more expensive as manual scanning is required. imo... Cheap expired 12exp negative Develop cost the same as 36exp... for abt $2 more can get 24 more exp. Not to mention, The 35mm holga advancing guide only features the 36 or 24 exp films.

destructology- 01-22-2008

Uncle Mike charge 3 12Exp rolls for the price of one normal 36Exp.

reeve_jun- 01-23-2008

U guys know the exact price for scanning with sprocket holes?

ranon- 01-23-2008

$15 at triple D if im not wrong.

ickle matchbox- 01-23-2008

hmmm the last time uncle mike to scan sprockets for me was 17bucks after lomotion discount i think... :)
