Royale With Cheese- 02-09-2008
oh yea, I saw that mod on ebay for sale couple of days back.
Still rather stick to the 50cents method or the spring method with 4 LR44 batteries, budget.. lol

wah, nice! very helpful. was always thinking about a yashica but was always too troubled with the whole idea of using 1 cent coins and stuff. hahah!
Royale With Cheese- 02-10-2008
Ok, I tried to mod my yashica to fit 4 LR44 batteries & it worked!
Basically, I used the coin method, lazy to go out & get a spring.
Used like 20-25, 5 cent coins, put them in first, followed by the 4 LR44 batteries.
I used tape to stick the 4 batteries together, than followed by wrapping of a couple of layers of cupboard around the batteries to fill up the circumference gap within the battery compartment.
Just take note the + side should be facing outwards. Than either press the battery -*test*-('") button, a green light should light up at the film indicator or just set your apeture to the biggest number, point somewhere dark, a yellow arrow should appear in your viewfinder indicating that the apeture is under

Hey U guys know where I can get leather riverting done cheaply?
I've got an idea man, saw those leather dog leash, they come on almost any colours or sizes. I've seen those that are thin enuff to be suitable for RF straps, just need to cut & rivert them or alternative would be to stich it up

Hmmm, as for the strap, I wanna try to get black leather, know where I can get it?
i think the original is somthing like what i hav here...some kind of rope thingy...i seen it on very old GSN before, which is why i made my with the climbing rope, its good to look at but not good to actually use
i also hav "remade" or customised leather straps for this and my Rolleiflex
they are made from belts :)
this is also another shop in Pennisula, he does belt alterations and repairs, bring your camera along so he can measure the lenght and thickness needed, you will hav to buy the whole belt from him but he will do the alterations for free, i will find out the names of the shops tomorrow :)
wow that's hell lots of information appreciated!
do u know how to modify from a mercury battery to normal LR batteries then?
i think i roughly know the leather jacket shop. somewhere around opposite of davis guitar right? oh do update us the belt shop then.

just wondering if you guys did the mod for the battery because it's extinct in singapore?
i found a mg1 at home recently but without the battery. anywhere i can send it for cleaning since the viewfinder is sort of stained.
thanks. :)
Royale With Cheese- 05-12-2008
Yes, most of us are modified the battery compartments or use a series of batteries. Mecury batteries that yashica used to operate on are long gone.
U can send your camera to P&G at Adelphi, cityhall
sapienz- 05-12-2008
Its relatively easy to do your own cleaning if its only the viewfinder ...
Read up on yashicaguy
miboy- 05-12-2008
thanks for the link.
Gives me a better understanding about yashica.
invisibl3- 05-12-2008
one thing to add for the battery mod you could easliy use a cr123 with 2 x lr44 or cr123 and 625 no coins or springs would be needed for this mod..
juel- 05-12-2008
thanks guys for the link and reply.
really appreciate it. :)
